Working with mothers experiencing violence

Use this part to learn about the varied ways mothers are harmed by violence and how you can support them in getting help and keeping their children safe.

Strong partnership with mothers is essential to the Safe and Together model. It is the foundation from which we understand perpetrator patterns of behaviour. It also informs our safety planning and how we assess and manage risk.  We recognise this as the most efficient and effective way to support the safety of her children.

This partnership is an alliance with the mother that honours and builds on her strengths and her survival—in the face of the harm caused to family life by the behaviours of the perpetrator.
