About this part

This part will help you:

  • partner with mothers to better understand fathers’ patterns of violence, coercion and control and the impact of their behaviour on a child, the non-offending parent and the functioning of the family
  • partner with mothers to understand the ways in which they are trying to protect their children
  • see how some fathers use a mother’s role to control or abuse them
  • understand how violence may undermine the relationship between a mother and child
  • work with mothers to get a full account of the domestic violence they suffer
  • support mothers to get help and keep their children safe
  • support mothers in helping their children to recover from domestic and family violence.
