Case management responsibility for in-home cases sits with the CSSC in the geographical area where the child and family live. If the child and family move, it is critical to negotiate case work tasks and case management responsibility with the relevant CSSC in the area to which the child and family have moved. (Refer to Procedure 5 Transfer a case to another Child Safety Service Centre.)
Attention
If case closure is imminent when a family moves outside the boundary of the CSSC that has case management responsibility, that CSSC will retain responsibility until the case is closed.
A support service case for a young person who is over 18 years will not be transferred to another CSSC if the young person relocates. (Refer to Procedure 5 Case transfer exceptions.)
Note
If a child subject to a child protection care agreement is placed outside the boundary of the CSSC that has case management responsibility, case management will remain with the CSSC where the child’s family reside. Advise the CSSC where the child is placed that the child is in their catchment area. Negotiate case work tasks, if required.
