Respond to disagreement about an intake decision

If there is disagreement between a CSSC, the CSAHSC or a RIS about an intake decision, the relevant senior team leaders will:

  • discuss the rationale for the decision
  • reach agreement about how the matter will be recorded.

If agreement cannot be reached, the matter will be escalated to senior management.

If it is decided to change a child concern report to a notification, the CSSC senior team leader will record the necessary changes, including the rationale for the decision, in ICMS.

A decision to downgrade a notification requires the written approval of the CSSC manager responsible for the investigation and assessment. The decision must take into account matters outlined in Downgrade or delete an approved notification.

If a decision is made to change an intake response and the notifier was a professional, the CSSC senior team leader will inform the notifier of the new response.
